Wally Maurer is a professional walleye angler who grew up in the suburbs of Cleveland, Ohio.  His love for fishing became evident at a young age, when he would take a bus to the end of the line with his fishing pole under his arm and hike to the Metroparks on the Chagrin River to fish for smallmouth bass.  Also an avid skier, Wally has lived in Colorado and Illinois (where he earned his B.S. in Business & Economics at Illinois Benedictine University), before settling down in Michigan.  Wally and his wife Katie grow grapes on their 80 acre farm and make wine at their winery, Domaine Berrien Cellars.  They enjoy trips to Crane Lake, Minnesota for walleye fishing in the Voyageurs National Park/Boundary Waters area.  Wally is just starting his third season on the Professional Walleye Trail, where he spends over 40 days on the water annually in over a half dozen states as well as Canada.  He is a member of the NPAA (National Professional Anglers Association), NWF (National Walleye Foundation), and the Michigan Steelheaders Association.  Wally’s fishing team, Team Vino, has a webpage (www.TeamVino.net) and Facebook page (TeamVino) that follow his tournament schedule throughout the year, with photos and results.
